I searched for this a while back and GP found an image for me.. but have since decided to redo it in Illustrator as a vector image for better quality. Not _exactly_ perfect but close enough for my needs and in general I think (hope? ). Preview: DownloadEnjoy Regards, Ian

Very nice. Certainly good enough for skinning. Nice work.

Thanks B Recently I swapped to try using Illustrator for skinning due to better vector handling that Photoshop.. having some success I think and I love vector work. The 2 logos I've done so far aren't to your excellent quality.. but I'm happy with the results so far Regards, Ian

Decals can take a little practice, I admit, but what you have made looks great. I find there's a bit of a knack to "interpretting" the original decal, recreating the true outline instead of the blurry jpg or gif outline, if that makes any sense. ;D My decals are not perfect, being hand made means they have slight imperfections, but unoticable usually, and certainly the small imperfections become insignificant when the decals are used at normal skin sizes. I hope you continue to make skins and decals with AI. What I love about vectoring is the absolute freedom to create anything you wish and resize it without loss of quality.

Hi B.. thanks for your comments.. you'll always be the "decalman" though Yup, completely follow what you're saying with the "fuzziness" (which can often hide some imperfections that stand out like a sore thumb when recreated with sharp lines). Wasn't until recently really that I used anything other than Photoshop for some "simple vector" gfx.. I tried SodiPodi when I didn't have a windoze box here for 18 months which while buggy on my box at least, it worked and I created some funky logos (AI is a lot more complex in what it can achieve however). I tried AI mainly as one of my latest designs for a new team skin had out team name at an angle on the side of the motor which as you can imagine, as this wasn't a 45 degree angle or similar, the anti-aliasing made the text look somewhat fuzzy. Although at SCREEN res it still is a little from AI, it's better than PS (saving the skins at 2048x2048 produces wonderful results for screenshots though ). I noticed after making the post that at ~800x600, the front wheel and front end don't actualy touch on my recreation (AFAIK, they do on the real deal).. but as you say, when resized to fit a skin, this will become unnoticable (as I didn't realise until I scaled it upwards for the preview image). I'm gonna continue this path I think with AI.. as you rightly say, the freedom is amazing Realy looking forward to getting me hands on the S2 skins when available too Regards, Ian

Well if you want any of my stuff in AI format just give me a yell, I can convert it all into AI in a jiffy. That way you can resize all my stuff with full clarity. At present I release them as PSD so that the maximum number of people can find them useful. But as you now know, vector is fully scalable without distortion. The only distortion you will get is from the final jpg compression and of course the skin's tendency to stretch in game, but every skin is faced with that.

Ooo that'd be great B if you wouldn't mind? (obviously in your own time ). If you'd prefer to mail it.. ian.h@dsrc.digiserv.net will find me Many thanks. [EDIT] Oops! LOL sorry B.. I think I misread your reply.. do you release them in a "pack" anymore? I jumped to that (quite possibly incorrect) assumption above.. sorry about that. _IF_ you do and could do a .AI pack, it'd be great.. if you're only releasing them singularly.. I'll give ya a holla as n when as I don't know what I'll use when (I hope that doesn't come across sounding rude.. reads a bit funny to me.. but hopefully ya'll get the drift and it not come across as a "sure, when I need ya I'll beckon" ) Regards, Ian

I probably won't be doing a public vector pack, but let me know if you want anything in particular and i will make a mini pack for you.

I'd like to have vector decals too... I have a pack that's in jpg, ai, psd and some other files and it's really nice.

Here's another quick knockup free for use.. this time a fictional suspension company... 'PUNWOD Suspension Systems' (simple anagram of "DOWN UP" ). Decided to try and be a little more creative for S2 and on designs I'm not replicating from a real life livery, I might make up some more fictional companies.. just for a change from "the norm" Preview: Enjoy Regards, Ian

Excellent. It's rewarding making your own brands. it's good to have a few up your sleeve.

Update: My current and only available decal pack is the new LFS Sponsor's Pack which can be found in it's own topic on this board. At this stage I will not be creating any other types of logos for a while.
