I'm going to scrap this idea because it is not possible to do. In Photoshop you need to multiply the shadow with the rest of the skin, so no matter how much effort I go to to make a generic shadow layer it will never be suitable for a wide range of skins. In Corel Photopaint I am able to set the shadow layer to multiply even when no other layer is present. This works well for most of my own skins if I export them to Photopaint (from Corel Draw) and add the shadow layer on top. But the PSD version I can make does not behave quite so well in Photoshop, I suppose the differences in the way each program does things is preventing a universal result.
If we can't provide a shadow component for the skin kits then the next best thing is to teach the community how to make the layer for themselves. We will need at least two tutorials: Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. Useful techniques would include using the multiply feature and using transparency on the same layer to achieve the desired result for a particular skin. Al has mentioned success with the option of playing with brightness and contrast levels so I reckon that needs to be included in the tutorials as well.

Well too bad you have to scrap the idea due to programing differences Bunta. It was a really good idea. Well I hope to see some tutorials soon then haha. THanks for atleast giving it a shot Bunta!

yea i may be a bit late on this, but could I get those layers? Maybe somebody else who got them could send them my way. Sounds like a good idea to have a good universal shading template, I usually just ask someone else to do it on my skins.
