I can barely work on the computer...When I'm using Photoshop and try to Merge layers or to delete a layer, it takes 3-5 minutes

Ouch. Maybe backing up old files (that you don't need to access regularly) followed by deleting them from your harddrive, a defrag and a virus scan would do you some good

No, I lost my re-installation CD and when I bought a new one, it was scratched.
Disk Defragment takes all day, I'm not a petient person.

Defrag make take all day but it should help speeds, as would clearing up your harddrive. Not to mention they will both extend the life of your harddrive and keep it from mucking up on you sooner.

I would just like to add that backing your files up does prove useful. I have several backups, Slave 40gb hard drive ontop of my 160GB main drive, 4GB usb flash drive, best of all I keep DVD-Rs on hand for major files such as skins, edited .dds files..
Remember backing up even minor things such as logos/decals prove useful as well.
PC crashed on me the other day before I had a chance to back up some files.. BUT I was prepared and had backed up all the important things a week before.. so all that was lost was a few W-I-P's that only had a few minutes each spent on them.. Things I can easily redo.. but you will be kicking yourself if you lose important files!

Have you backed-up your artwork lately? You'll surely miss it when it's gone.
