Here is a carbon fiber pattern. Put it in the photoshopcs\presets\patterns folder this way all you have to do is select what you want cf'ed and fill it in. took me a while to make this since i'm a noob at Photoshop but it looks very good at 1024 and better at 2048. To make it look more realistic just put a layer of almost blackish grey at 70% transparency over it. www.savefile.com/files/3527285

In case you have problems with tiling of carbon fiber texture above, here is the 2048x2048 resolution, suitable for your 2048 skin. Just paste it into your skin PSD, add the mask, and paint with black where you don't want the carbon to appear. PM for any questions in Photoshop. The texture above is better though, mine is kinda too sharp (but makes nice moire ingame ) www.caadg.sk/rasto/LFS/carbon-fibre.pngGood reference might become handy as well, check out the following picture with the carbon-fibre.png from the link above, applied at the hood of S2 XFG in 2048x2048 resolution, compared with the real photo. (always make sure you get your carbon texture in the correct scale)

I found a way to make my pattern look less noticable.. make the color r19 g19 b19 and put that layer on top of the carbon fiber at 70% transparancy. :EDIT: there are so many different types of carbon fiber. Some look like plain black paint from 10 feet away while others can be identified as CF from that distance... Here is a pic to show the difference xs35.xs.to/pics/05261/cfexample.JPG

I have used a few techiniques to make CF look more realistic. I used to make two copies of the texture. I would fade one from solid to transparent from east to west, and then the other I would treat the same but from west to east. Underneath I would use a black layer. Put the two CF layers on top and it would give an effect of real life where no single part of the texture would look identical. The two oppositely faded layers would look like a trick of the light. These days I start with a CF texture that is 2560 x 2048 pixels. I shrink the width back to 2048, this compensates for the skin stretching we see in LFS. It also degrades the quality of the CF texture slightly which actually makes the CF look less artificial. Corel Photopaint has a "smoothing" tool which blends adjacent pixels. This type of effect can also help to make the pattern less harsh, the shiny effect in LFS does the rest. I find the finer textures look more realistic than the blocky ones. Also I think that a CF texture that is biased more towards black than grey works best in game. When making CF mirrors it is a good trick to reverse the CF texture for one mirror so the diagonal lines are runnning symmetrically opposite. (see picture below)click for example

Hey that's sudo's skin, nice tips I'll definitely try it Yep, that's the skin I made for Sudo, the side skirts and side intakes are also done using the same method.

I have another CF texture, it really good... It's quite large, actually it's great, it's high-res!

That looks really quite useless in fact. Carbon fiber weave is much smaller than that. At 2048 x 2048 it would look even sillier. Perhaps you meant that it looks good at low res. Even then, it is hard to get excited about.
