I'm sorry I have to say exactly the same as Bunta, be happy to help out here and there where I can but I get a lot of requests for skins and I can't keep just turning people down all the time. I just don't have enough time at the moment.

Don't get me wrong, I have made hundreds of skins for other people, but often it is a total waste of very valuable time.
I will never again make skins for:
- demo racers - demo teams - new teams
All of these are a high risk because they can't be considered as being established or stable. Often the skins made for these groups end up not being used because the team breaks up or the individual fades away from the community.
Another pet peeve is when someone instructs you to "make the skin however you like" and so you painstakingly create an original and unique design for them and when you present the finished skin to them they come back with a list of the fifty things they want you to change.
It's a tough decision taking on custom work, unless you're a 10-minute cut and paste skinner. But I've found that most skinner's best works are the ones they spent a lot of time on and didn't rush to release.
Good skins take a lot of time, time is valuable and scarce. High quality custom skins are a risky undertaking sometimes because they can be a waste of time.
Expect a lot of requests if you begin this project. I wonder how you will manage them all or how long it will take. Perhaps there will be a long waiting list eventually?

You guys are right, I'd only have the time to do one every now and then, definately not one a week or anything. I just don't have enough time.
Perhaps it could work differently in some way? Something like having a competition for a skin idea which could be judged by the team and then produced for the winner, or released publicly containing the winners name and number etc. That way you could control the amount of skins that have to be made.
Don't know, something to think about.
It seems we all get quite a few requests as it is, if you were to open it right up it might explode.

You can take my name off as well. I get quite a bit of requests even without such advertising. And I have to say that more than 80% of them never get done.
Don't take me wrong though. I love skinning and especially making teamskins nowadays. It's just the fact that people don't realise how much work it is and how much experience it takes to make a set that stands out in both quality and design. Asking money for the sets usually helps sort out the people who are serious and who not. The amounts I ask may sound high, but what people usually don't realise is the possibilities a professional look will bring. Lots of teams these days have real sponsors, which means they can have free or very cheap servers, websites, gaming gear or whatever. Surely a sponsorship is more likely to happen for a team that looks good?

Well, that pretty much eliminates anyone but me from the list... I'll be happy to do it. I just wish I had some other people intersted. Don't get me wrong. I totally understand not having time for it or simply not being interested. The pic was just a mock up and the logo idea is still in the air. I appreciate your help, though. (that's why I used your names for the dummy design) Your ideas are helping me create the sub-structure of a potential hit magnet. I feel like Master Skinnerz can make so much more than just skins out of this idea. We are already looked upon for quality skins, but we could shift the whole center of LFS with this. It's like having F1 drivers doing free classes. The skin of your dreams, and it's complimentary. I really see great things for a skin request team, but I feel like I can't do it alone. By God, I'll try, because this is a great opportunity for me. I can wing it alone for now, but my vision of the future sees many a skin request and not enough skinnerz. I still want to go through with getting a board set up for it and I'll be happy to maintain it. I know if I ever need help, I can call upon those who have already helped me before. Thank you for all your time in brainstorming this, guys.

I'm sure there is a market for this kind of thing, but our main aims at Master Skinnerz include teaching people how to make their own skins and that will always be what we will concentrate on more.
We are really here to help people get involved in skinning, it has never been a place to come to get skins. We've stuck to the same formula for two and a half years and have declined many attractive offers to merge with other popular sites in the LFS and greater sim communities. Master Skinnerz was created out of a need to communicate with people who wanted help with skin-making and we achieve that goal here quite well.
I am willing to support a team of skinners who take on custom requests from the community but we aren't about to make that a main feature of MSz. While the project has potential to be really popular, it also reduces the chances of a person learning how to make skins for themselves.

I never meant to imply that requests would take over MSz. I love how it's set up now. I was just trying to convey the commercial power of having a skin request team. It'd bump up the hits and add members. In that jump in numbers, someone is bound to become inspired and be the next great skinner. I remember when I first came on and stared in awe at the masterpieces surrounding me. I want others to still experience that for sure. I never want MSz to change it's format. It's perfect as it is. Anymore, I thought about it and we really don't need a board for the Mob. It seemd like the mob is just me. I'll just weave through the posts and take skin requests. I tend to have big dreams, but in all reality, they are far from what should be done. I'll just stick with the lil' banner under my name and take requests until we acquire a stronger base for Skin Request Skinnerz.

[apologies for wandering O/T] my kids (and I) specialise in lego star wars mini figs and the related models, actually I really love 'em. I have an extensive collection of different storm troopers and various rebel pilots, it's great what ebay can turn up for lego collector geeks like me

Thanks for all the support! I like that everyone is willing to help if needed. Also! I'm an avid lego fan of yesteryear. I have all teh old blacktron/M-tron collections, all teh pirate and island sets and most of the city style sets. That's kinda cool to see everyone into Legos. I feel at home with my nerdy brethren! ;D
