Heya! ;D This is a little bit about me, before I show what little work I've done so far. I've had LFS for about a month now, and I've fallen head over heels for it. Its simply an amazing game. However, the other day, I broke my wheel. Yanked the USB cable right out of it's housing in the wheel, so my Black Momo is dead. However, I've been planning on buying the G25 when it came out, so suddenly I'm in a slump. Race with the mouse for two months and buy the G25, or buy a replacement wheel for the interum and get the G25 in two months. Seeing as, at the moment, financial reasons prevent me from buying another wheel (College just started, classes and books are expensive ;D), I've decided to do something I've never done with any game before. Edit it a little. So I'm trying my hand at skinning, and I have to say this site has been, and will be, a great help in allowing me to skin for my favorite game ever. Now, my talent is far from refined, decent, or really even worthy of mention, but I decided to give it a shot anyways. Worst that happens, I learn a little and get better. Best that happens, I get a lot better (seeing as I can't really get worse, heh). I do all of my skinning work in Photoshop 7.0 on my laptop.

And my first Skin... Ever... Now, a little bit about it... I attempted to give the car a 'production car' look, which is the purpose for the (rather bad) LFS thing on the front, and the letterings on the back. I played a little with the blue gradiants, and added racing stripes because it looked plain. I tried to keep the decals down, figuring that a production car wouldn't have to many sponcers. Maybe one for the tires they burn through, and one for the gas they burn through ;D. I must say, I'm less than happy about how it turned out, but I'm putting it up so I can get some helpful advice on what to improve on. I'm thinking about removing the Injext logos and number (it looks too big), and maybe adding some 3d effects to the LFS on the front to make it look less 'painted on'. Comments are more than welcome, both the good and bad!

That skin is in no way a bad skin, especially for a first skin (you should of seen my first skin ) some may say not enough logos or too plain but does depend on what your aiming for. As you said a 'production car look' then alot of sponsors would look wrong (i take it you mean production car look as in more of a race club than race series) I think maybe could do with a few more sponsors here and there to give it a more race car feel. Saying that though i like the idea of the fuel cap outline Best advice i can give you is to hav patience to keep practising skinning and photoshop. Look up tutorials on the internet so you can get better at photoshop in general which ive found has helped with my skins.

Heh. The fuel cap actually turned out better than I expected when I made it. I pretty much just made it a square and added that little darker part for a... I dunno, illusion of a dip. I expected to have to go back and adjust it to compensate for stretching... But when I saw the rectangular result, I kinda liked it And yeah, I ment more race club than race series... The thing is, I'm trying to get an idea for a good central theme to adopt as a personal theme for all my skins, so when I get back to racing online and buy S2, I can be recignised by my skin. Well... At least, thats the goal, if it'll happen or not is another story on its own. Also, as far as a number on the side went, I'm not sure why I picked 27... At first I was going to leave it blank in fear of stealing 'someone else's number', but I put in 27 so I could see how it lined up. And it kind of stayed... Maybe I'll register for the OLFSL and use the number from that on all my skins. Also, I've done some thinking about... er... not sure if there is an offical term for it.... But essentually, large pictures rather than colors and designs being the central focus of a skin. But it wouldn't look very race-car ish I suspect... So its still an idea I'm just toying with at this point. I've always had a really cool design in mind to put on the side/top of a car, but I've never been able to draw what I see in my mind, and describing it would take a lot of words ;D. But I figure thats something to work towards, rather than ask someone to make it for me. Anyways, something else I'm having an issue with is my helmet... It being a blue color, it tends to horrible mis-match the suit, hehe. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do there... yet...

So I thought that my other skin was 'finished'. I mean, I liked it, it looked nice, but the more and more I looked at it, the more I wanted to change it. So, I finnaly did ;D I decided to keep the sponcers down a little, but someone pointed out to me when I mentioned why I only had one, "Wouldn't even a hobbiest racer in the Live for Speed world still need more than just fuel? I mean, sure you can make your tires last 150 laps, but I'll bet you've done more. Also, all that tunable suspension components? Stock cars can't really be tuned that easy, can they?" So, I added more decals Not too many, as I wanted to leave with a... Race club look, rather than a full blown race-car. I also added a keyhole for the trunk. Kinda a whim actually, heh. I think my next project is to make a suit... Even if no-one else can see it. That will probably come after I make a version of this car for a friend (who expressed interest in it ;D). Since we're both demo racers, no-one else will see it... But at least we will! Although his will have a black theme to it, so I'll have to edit the colors around a little. Credits, by the way, go to other people for the decal designs. The LFS Decal Packs (from this website!), made by Bunta, and the Numberplate, made by Bunta again. Oh yeah, and I used his Pro-Kit... Wow... To think, this car would not have been possible without his kindness ;D Comments, suggestions, critics, and ideas welcome!

very proper looking club car! nice job. to make your skins even more interesting start playing with more complicated graphic designs, even if they cross layers. it might be annoying to line up (oh the anuerisms...good memories) but you wont regret it. keep up the good work!
