Aim: To design a logo that is bold, easy to recognise even from a distance or when presented as a small image.
Considerations:
- People like to change their team skins and colours from time to time, so it would be desireable if the logo could be easily customised by the skin maker without having to draw the entire thing from scratch or relying on quirky paint bucket tools and colour fills.
- It would be desireable if the logo was supplied in various configurations so that it may be used in different areas on the car or on different cars without looking too repetitive.
- It would be desireable if the recipient of the logo could claim full ownership of the design without worrying about infringing copyright laws or font license agreements. This would give them peace of mind and full publishing control.
- It would be desireable if the design was presented simply, allowing the skin maker to apply their own creative effects or textures to the artwork with ease.
Product:
And now here is my basic design for the Itek team logo:
Itek MainIf my entry succeeds in winning the favour of the Itek team I will provide this file in PSD format (transparent or no background) with seperate layers for the components of the logo, allowing creative control and quick colour matching. I will also provide the logo in EPS format for true scalability.
Additionally I have created several configurations to allow more diversity and flexibility when using the logo in your skin design. These will also be provided in PSD and EPS format:
Itek1The examples below illustrate how the seperate layered components can provide numerous (endless!) colour configurations:
Itek2,
Itek3,
Itek4I have also created another configuration which is more suitable for use on longer sections of the skin like a bonnet, bumper or windscreen visor. Once again PSD and EPS versions would be provided with seperate layers:
Itek5Because of the latered file the skin maker can apply their own effects to each component of the logo as they desire. The example below illustrates a possible outcome, thousands are possible.
Itek6Another configuration but this time created to suit smaller areas like bumper ends, door pillars, open-wheeler front wings, bonnet emblems and badging, helmets, wheels, seats and such. Once again, layered PSD or EPS files allow complete control over each component:
Itek7To round up the collection I have created curved versions of the long configuration made especially for each of the GTR windshields
(FXR version pictured below). These would also be available in layered PSD and EPS if I am successful.
Itek8Finally, I would include a race number plate kit especially for the Itek logo, in layered PSD format.
Well, you might not even like the design, but if you do my collection should leave you well-equiped to skin any and every LFS car. I have not used a font in this work and you would have full ownership of the design to do with as you please. The colours I used in my examples are for display purposes, you can choose any colours you like or even change them from time to time at a whim.
I hope my work is acceptable to the Itek team, or at least that it inspires others with their work. Enjoy.
