"good idea?" I reckon, yeah. How about a quick, one week, contest for members to submit their idea for an MS car logo? Bunta?

It's a nice idea, but I don't have time to organise anything like this at the moment, and we don't have a lot of traffic presently, some members only drop in every few weeks.

Brilliant idea actually. When I was thinking what decals to stick on my skin, I thought that LFS sponsors are the only correct ads to show. KONI, GoodYear or CocaCola didn't pay for being advertised, right? But the MasterSkinnerz logo is the must! Without this place my skin wouldn't be here so fast. Soo... the request: Bunta, would you send me the Master Skinnerz type? Only clear writing, without the blue grid at the background or strokes/glows applied. Best would be any vector format, decent raster resolution will do the job too. If you got no time, just tell me the font name please. ;D Thank you. (my email should be visible for you, if not, upon request, sorry i'm a bit paranoid about spam)

The font used is Bergell LET
The reason we never made decals etc, was because Master Skinnerz was only supposed to survive for a short time. When we were running LFS Files we recognised a need for tutorials and skin help and this need was unable to be met by LFS Files due to a lack of free time for the people doing the web site coding (big job for anyone involved). I got tired of waiting and made this (temporary) forum. That was a very long time ago and as most of you know we are still waiting for LFS Files to evolve, though I have ceased holding my breath for that to ever happen.
So Master Skinnerz should really be extinct by now, but I keep it running because there is a need in the community.
We have discussed recently a name change and a shift away from these free-hosted forums and if that happens then the "logo" we use now will be redundant. The idea behind "Master Skinnerz" was to help people to learn how to master the art of skinning. The new LFS World skin uploading system has perhaps watered-down the need for a site like LFS Files, but the number of people seeking skin help has increased and will continue to do so. So we endure, at least for now, and as long as there is a need for skin help I will do what I can to provide a means in which people can get that help. We may evolve into a new forum with a new name but the fundamental reasons for this place remain: Spare parts, tutorials, ideas, help from other skinners, FAQs, skin kits, news etc. Above all the ability to actually partake in discussions was lacking at LFS Files, so a dedicated forum was always a sensible approach, at least I thought so.
With great support from people like Al Heeley and Andylec I have stayed motivated enough to continue this forum. We don't break any site traffic records around here, and as I have said before it's not a very "chatty" place, but I think many people find it useful and it's great to see many newcomers to computer graphics learning how to use various programs and techniques.
Apart from our forum staff, you may see a few Grandmasters around from time to time. These are just a few people who I have identified as being inspirational in their skin-making. Andylec, Al, and I have always felt that it is important to continue raising the standard of skins and encouraging skinners to make the best works that they can. I hope that our Grandmasters can inspire all of our members like they inspire me.
Back to the logo: Create skins using our logo if you wish, but please remember that at some time we may change our logo as we evolve into something better than we now have. Master Skinnerz in it's present incarnation was never meant to be permanent.

This reply deserves special topic Bunta, sounds like a good welcome message and it was an interesting reading. The logo of MasterSkinnerz, although temporary, will shine on my skins anyway. Even if you wouldn't revealed the font name, I would find it myself (Bergell LET sounds very familiar, I definetly have that one), and now you won't stop me from giving the credit to this place, at least on my little creations. ;D
