It's no that it's bad, just very misplaced for a LFS based website. You'd think they knew better, huh?

And people wonder why I'm so anti-advertising Sephi.. have you checked a couple of threads down? There's some info there on how to block google ads. Will speed up browsing and obviously, not slam that crap in your face (and lessen the revenue the ad people are expecting due to fewer impressions ). As for them knowing better, nah.. they don't give a shit.. as long as they're making money.......... My liking of anything google has long since been forgotten. Now they're just a royal PITA and think _far_ too much of themselves as a company. Regards, Ian

I really dont want to spend money on an ad free board. I just thought it was kinda humorous. I'm not offended at all by this or other ads. (Except maybe the jiggling boobs wall hanging one on television now.)

(Except maybe the jiggling boobs wall hanging one on television now.) It is actually quite cheap to run an add-free forum, but we will lose all of our current posts if we go there. *MSz was originally set up as an appendix to another site, we never dreamed it would attract 1000+ genuine hits per DAY!. If it weren't such a great loss of history and general content, we could easily flip over to an add-free hosting situation (we can't take it with us when we go though). We already have an alternate forum set up and have had for perhaps a couple of years now. Maybe one day we can move across to something more controllable than ProBoards?

Is it possible to get ProBoards to send you the files for this forum?

Can you get hold of database dumps / backups B? If so, there's a possibility that a script could be coded to convert the data from this forum's DB to a different forum's structure Regards, Ian

The ads have never bothered me in the slightest.
Sephi, I may be a bit funny in the head but that banner you posted is hilarious.

I asked ProBoards about it two years ago but they were not helpful at all. Hmm, that's a shame, but there's still a possibility. Lemme have a think and a play about with some Perl code. It might (or is, just time dependant) be possible to just code a script that'll parse the pages and grab the content for which could then be stored in any format. I guess the best format would be to parse the data and store it as MySQL data which could then simply be imported either on the cmdline if you have access, or via the likes of phpMyAdmin. I can't remember what forum (software) you have setup now, can you refresh my memory as to what app it is? Regards, Ian

me too, Vilante. I laughed my ass off and wanted to share the hilarity with anyone who shared my sense of humor.

I can't remember what forum (software) you have setup now, can you refresh my memory as to what app it is? I use YaBB. It doesn't require a database (though it can be set up with one) as it uses a fast flat file system. I believe that ProBoards is based on YaBB too, so their files for members, boards, topics, and messages etc should be more or less compatible. But it's no big deal. It wouldn't bother me to close this forum and start from scratch.
