I have had the program for a while, but never really needed to use it I guess. But now I want to start rendering my own skins. I downloaded the XRGT Turbo scene from Ian H's site, I was wondering what the next step would be from there? Like how do I apply the skin to the model etc.

depending on what version you have go to the materials window and look for the material which has the default skin on and just change the file for the material to ur skin

In the material editor (I'm using 3ds max 7) there's nothing there. All the boxes say not supported.

there should be a little blue icon you click to expand a tree structure, listing all the materials. Find the one related to the skin, should have a bitmap associated with it. You cna then browse to reload a jpg of your choice instead of that bitmap, to get your skin on the car, then press F9 to render it.
OR: Press M to get the materials editor up, scroll down the list, find Skin. Click on it, browse to your jpg, then render

Here is Grudd's very helpful rendering tutorial for those who are not members of RSC. Download 1.3MB here or use the mirror link below... MIRROR Thanks to winDOS. Thanks to Grudd for all the hard work he has done around here for the benefit of our skinning community! Great work mate! Read this.

When I open the scene, the missing external things is what I need I think. It's tyre, cromowheel, and a bunch of others.
