Hello,
Can anyone provide me with some 3ds files ? I'd settle for an FZ50 GTR ( whatever it's called - bottom right on the car list in the game ).
I'd also like to get the open wheeled cars, if possible.
I'm using bryce to learn how to render, but it can't utilize .max files.
Thanks

ds-autos.digiserv.net/ click the latest scenes nav bar [r hand side] to grab the files. N.B these are Studio Max /splutterfish Brazil plugin scenes, I don't have a link to plain old max files I'm afraid.

I tried that site, but they supply .max files, and Bryce will not recognize these. The one file I have (uf1) which is recognized is a .3ds file.

It's a shame.. I don't think anything but 3DS can read the .max format (think it's strictly proprietry or something) and even then never backwards compatible I don't have the files in .3ds format unfortunately bird, but you could possible ask DoN over at lfsforum.net as I believe he had the cars as .3ds files. You may have some work ahead of you to get them to look right for renders (I had to redo a lot of the smoothing for max scenes for example) but at least if he still has them, you'd be able to work with them. Not quite the answer you were looking for, but hope it helps in an indirect way Regards, Ian

The answer I was looking for is "Here, I have a 2006 F430 I never drive, take the keys" Can you take .max files in 3ds and export them as .3ds...or is that where the flaws are created ? No bother, speedykev has posted some, it should be a while before I'm noticing flaws outside my own

Glad you're sorted, bird The flaws are just in some places smoothing groups are assigned wrong when originally imported from .cmx files into 3DS which creates some funky looking shadows (XR* cars being the worst covering 1/3 of the bonnet). It's not difficult to fix, just pretty time consuming. Exporting from .max to .3ds loses some attributes too. Normally fine for games, but not the best format for rendering IMO, but bryce may handle somethings better.. has been a couple of years since I loaded an LFS car into that and far from being a bryce whizz Anyways, good luck with it.. I like seeing people's results especially in different apps to 3DS as I've tried a few graphics apps over the years but never really worked too much with many of them and good to see what can be achieved by others with some effort Regards, Ian

here is a scene i made usin bryce. but you do need 3dmax to edit the car first, and then you save it as a 3ds file, then load into bryce add all the car parts and then render.
