That's the kiddie! Thanks B.. had a proper brain fart there for a moment (and not opened 3DS in a fair while). Regards, Ian ;D I was going to write a lighting tutorial once, but realised that a good lighting tutorial raises more questions than it answers. Those wishing to play with lighting need to know: - There are various types of lights included with Max. - Brazil lights are not the same as Max lights and have different controls/parameters. - Lights can be aimed at an object or just a direction - Lights can be locked-on to an object so that no matter where you place the light it always points to the target. - You can adjust the strength of a light - You can adjust the distance a light shines for - You can adjust the rate at which the light fades over distance - You can control the size of the "cone" that a light emits and adjust how light behaves over that distance - You can shine a light at a scene and only have chosen objects effected by it - You can shine a light through an object or make the object itself emit the light - You can also use a light to subtract light from an object or scene - You can colour the light coming from a light - You can choose to have a light which casts no shadows from some or all objects in a scene. - You can control the reflection of lights: how much reflection, or even cancel reflections from a light. and much, much more..... try Google for tutorials on lighting scenes, don't forget shadows too, it's a topic almost as detailed and diverse as lighting is!
