If you use our Pro Kits, you might have noticed that when you resize a skin to 1024 x 1024 (to upload to LFS World) that in some cases the black mask bleeds onto the mapped areas of the skin. This often shows up on the "seams" where the different skin panels meet on the 3D model. When resizing JPG images this bleeding is unavoidable. So I have decided to provide a set of masks that are suitable for 1024 x 1024 skins. Each Pro Kit will eventually contain an extra file for this use. To use the 1024 mask this is the procedure to follow: Make your skin at 2048 x 2048 (or 1024 x 1024, your choice). If you plan to resize your 2048 skin down to 1024, do NOT apply the default 2048 mask. Resize down to 1024 first, and then apply the new 1024 mask. There should be no bleeding from the mask (black) onto the skin. If you already have our Pro Kits, rather than download the entire Pro Kit again when it is updated with the additional file, I will provide the 1024 masks as seperate downloads. You will need to check this topic if you want to get them, I won't be putting links on the web site until I have completed more of the masks. Available now: FOX black mask overlay @ 1024 x 1024 pixels. DOWNLOAD 50KB unpacks to 650KB XRT black mask overlay @ 1024 x 1024 pixels. DOWNLOAD 42KB unpacks to 555KB

what does the black mask do may i ask? Haven't you used our kits before? They each contain a black mask. The mask goes on as the uppermost layer and blacks out everything except the skinnable areas using RGB 100% black. This helps to reduce the filesize a bit because 100% black is no colour at all and therefore uses less file size space than having the multi-greys of the default skin (or any other colours) showing. The black mask also neatens up the appearance of your work which has little value but looks nice.

Sometimes when you resize a 2048 with the black mask to 1024 the black bleeds into the skin so bunta has provided the 1024 mask so you can remove the 2048 black mask, resize, then add the 1024 so it looks perfect.
Ive never noticed it myself.
