The Defaults?
The defaults are 512*512.
Or do you want defaults that are 1024*1024?

the 1024x1024 are in the CMX viewer? Yes. And to use the Pro Kits you just need a program that opens PSD files. What software do you use for skinning currently?

Wireframes show you the polygonal layout of the car. This will help you to align graphics across the different panels of the car as well as positioning graphics on the car (Exact centre, and matching up the positioning on the left and right side based on proximity to different sections of the wire, for instance). They also show the edge of the mapped area. It make skinning A LOT easier.
To hide the wireframes, open up the Layer Palette (F7 IIRC) and click the little eye beside the wireframe layer. I highly suggest you learn to use layers. It will make skinning infinitely easier for you.

yeah, its no trouble at all to use these kits, because as MAGGOT pointed out, all the components of them are in seperate layers. so you can show or hide whatever part of them you like while you skin. it REALLY does make everything a lot easier with a mask and wireframe, let me tell you!
