would be pretty hard, if not impossible, because it would be clear and you would see different parts of the interior from different angles plus the glass reflects in a different way than the metal

The problem from a rendering point of view is not the roof window / sun roof which are relatively easy to create, but rather the interior1.tga which contains the roof lining inside the vehicle. How on earth you edit that I have no clue. Over to the photoshop / psp people

You need the dds plugin for photoshop which can be found at Nvidia's hompage. That one can handle the interior files. I don't have the complete link right now, but you can find all needed info at the forum here...

If it's for rendering purposes only, read up on 3DS' 'boolean' tools. You could use a chamfer box and cut the shape of it out of the roof and headlining polys either creating a hole or an outline.. but the point would be to create a sunroof shape in the 2 layers of polys that you could then assign a new glass material to. The one thing I haven't checked as I've always mapped things after.. is whether this would destroy the UV mapping of the skin as it'll end up creating extra polys on the roof etc which may screw up the mapping coords, but something you could possibly have a look at You could do it manually by 'slicing' polys which should keep mapping coords intact if the boolean method fails, although this'll take some more effort. Will be interesting to see what results you come up with whatever method you choose Regards, Ian

Why not making a convertible? with rendering you can easily remove parts you don't want. (see my avatar for XRR spider). For skinning, just draw a window on top of the car.
