haha the only 94'ish green civic hatches i see around here are usually pulling behind me.
I'm still in favour of the A3 from Audi though, it seems like so much fun. But the Mini Cooper is always going to be my choice for fun.

Ewwww, a Civic is even more girly than the Saturn.

Civics are such cockroaches. You see em everywhere and they're just not as fantastic as everyone says. Mustangs are the same way too. I'd take a Miata even though they are girly. Mazda makes a decent car in the Mazda 6 too, but they are kinda pedestrian if you're looking for an all around good performance car. I also saw a new ford focus 2 door notchback the other day. anyone know anything about these?

At least with the Miata you are getting some excelent handling and if anything else, you can always go into the Spec Miata Cup that SCCA has. Spec Series are so much fun.

For being a bunch of hairdresser's cars, the Miata Spec Cup is pretty exciting to watch.

no no you have that all wrong. according to JC, the miata is the hair dressers receptionists car. the previous gen Merc SLK is the hair dressers car.

Why does the receptionist get a much better looking car than the hairdresser?

ah thats because its the old one. i agree. but the new generation....yum, great to drive too. i actually prefer the 350 to the 55 AMG, because its fast anyway, plus you get a 6-spd manual tranny. and if its looks you like just add the "AMG sports package." then the only way to thell the two apart is to look at the pipes in the back.

As much as the MX-5 (Miata in some countries) cops a lot of shit, they've always been great cars. The earlier models were a treat to mod inexpensively and the latest generation certainly looks more aesthetically pleasing. They've always had nimble and consistent handling, and with only two seats you never have room for your mates or your girlfriend's friends. They aren't the best for touring over long distances but they do the mountain thing remarkably well. Mazda haven't made too many duds in their history.

heh, i didnt mean that a civic was pulling away from me.. im talkin when im not in my car before it blew the transmission (someone ripped the trans coolant lines out of the transmission, great prank eh?) I have/had a 87 thunderbird sport coupe (aka 5.0 3spd with OD auto). I took down a modded integra and modded civic at the same time but im looking for a 4cyl truck rwd 5spd at the moment. oh n saturns are our astra's etc, we dont get the nice holdens or opels in the USA. i picked the civic b/c i drove one and it was pretty fun, the only more fun car i've driven was a late model eclipse that my buddy had. no mods, but i showed him how to drive a stick but i think it was lost on him. I agree tho, about the miatas. i remember when i was 14 looking through auto trader magazines and the local newspaper classifieds and the best bang for the buck (b/c i was also looking at what i could do to modify them, although at the time i thought the bigest wing i'd ever seen was the coolest) was a miata. i still wouldnt mind one b/c like whats been said, they handle great, and if you put a rotary which i think is actually lighter and smaller (can be tucked further behind the front suspension line) would add 200-300 hp depending how its modded plus lighter and better handling. n i know ALL about the whole girly car thing. honestly, if you see a 87 thunderbird, its a cop magnet, and oddly, drug dealers think its undercover. cops know its a 2door crown vic that'll handle better and outrun it, and the drug dealers just think its way too close to a cop car to mess with (thank god, but its funny to see them run)

Forget that. Stuff an ls1 in it.
Here's another eye catcher for ya, anyone looked at the Hyundai Genesis Coupe?

I've seen the El es juan put in a miata, it's frighteningly fast. but it wouldn't handle worth crap! thats what a drag racer would do, i even saw a video of the ls1 miata at a track day. it was agonizingly slow in the corners. i dunno if you have played GT4, but it honestly looked like it handled like the stock muscle cars. Plus the ls1 seemed like i'd have to modify the firewall, the core support, and strut towers to get it to fit. plus it weighs around 3-500LBs and the rotary is 120-200LBs. I've been looking into it very hard lately, i've decided instead of putting a 5spd in my 5.0 bird and a ford 9 inch rear (or possibly the 8.8) and all that, I'm just ganna replace the AOD automatic. i THINK the one im getting might have a shift kit so thats a +. What I'm ganna save my money for is a miata with a blown engine and get a 93+ B13TT for 2300 bucks (US) rebuilt for racing and drop it in the miata. it's really hard to do a lot of work to the car that gets you to work and back. After christmas (where does the time and money go?!?!) and the auto put in, thats ganna be my project car
