I'm not talking the planet, but the car company. Recently their cars have recieved a true makeover and I just about wet myself when I saw this. Check it out-- www.saturn.com/saturn/vehicles/astra/presale/index.jspO yes. they're bringing the Vauxhaull Astra to the States. It's about time we saw some euro hatch in america. Now I want Peugeot to do the same.

For a German like me, this is and ever will be an Opel Astra GTC. It was presented at the Paris Auto salon in 2004 and sales in Germany started in spring 2005. I dont know why GM puts it out under the name "Saturn". Its a car with the steering on the left, just like in Germany. They should call it Opel. Even if the configuration differs from Europe and US. btw: I learned driving in the normal Opel Astra. Its a nice car. (with 150 Diesel horses= ;D) sports version OPC (Opel performance center) 240 hp

It's just semantics. No one in North America knows anything about Opel, so releasing a car under that name would not generate any sales here. Of course, Saturn does not exactly make people buy cars, either. I quite like the Astra.... It'll be interesting to see how it does. A lot of car guys are excited about it, but I don't know if there's enough of them alone to keep it afloat.

I was laying in bed when it hit me. It was only a matter of time for them to bring the astra to America. I just realized Saturn's award winning car, the Aura, Shares quite a few similarities to the Opel Vectra. I bet they're on the same platform.
BTW: I want the OPC. wow.

thats GM politics... Their globalization programm brings jobs in Germany in danger. Opel is a very traditional car brand, shame GM is kicking it in the back. Anyhow I drive Volkswagen. btw: The OPC offers a sports version for every car. For small Corsas the sedan Vectra, even the Vans (Meriva and Zafira) get a power cure. Most impressive for me was this concept car: simply called X-Treme. Its like a street version of the DTM race car... *dream*

yum. shame that wont make it on this side of the pond, although i do think opel as a brand could make it. you gotta realize here (i worked in the auto service industry for the summer, so i know), saturn is pretty much the bottom of the barrel as far as new cars go. it shares its position with kia and hyundai in my opinion, so i like the germans. so what if they invaded both of the countries i lay claim to, ill forgive them if they keep bringing out stuff like the Astra GTC and the Merc C63. personally, id much rather import a Astra OPC, because i couldn't live with the fact that i have a saturn in my drive, even though its the same underneath as a saturn whatever its called around here

it could do the trick for GM, because theyd all the sudden have reasonable competition to the 300C and Charger from chrysler. think about it, in that segment, up until now they have had....what? an impala? a fwd barge for old people?

its so not a girls car, especially the VXR, which aesthetically kicks ass. second, compared to the shite available in north america for that kind of money, it looks like a wonderfully attractive proposition, despite the badge. remember culturally canada and america are easily 10-15 years behind in everything. and i mean every thing. the big silly sunglasses that are on the way out in italy? theyre not even popular here yet. only posers, jocks, and homosexuals get them. unless you think your a drug dealing gangsta (which in toronto is popular), in which case your even more culturally...deficient.
