Since the multiplayer test demo of rFactor has been released, I have checked out the skinning requirements. Skins for this game are in DDS format. You may need a plugin for your software to handle DDS. You should find all the tools you need at this web site. Please not that DDS files use an alpha layer in many cases. If you don't know what that means I suggest you consult your software's documentation and try experimenting with skins in DDS format. Good luck, post your results and suggestions here if you wish.

Perhaps it will improve in future?

I believe rFactor has skin pushing, becuase the game loads the models from the players' computers while you are in the garage, and I assume the same happens with skins. I could be wrong however.

sky, I have had similar probs, only with me PS CS does .dds perfectly well but PSP9 with the same plugin has started complaining that it can't read the file format, PSP8 has joined ranks too - most odd. I have gone back to using an excellent tool called dxtbmp - it's a converter/viewer and handles the alpha nicely - maybe it will be useful for you too? GL.
