cool indeed but vastly complicated to resize, mirror, move and perfectly match separate sections of a 1024 square jpeg. So I'll lay a fiver on it not being possible.

I've got something that can convert some of them. Only the helmet and the MRT5 though As Al says, converting the others automatically would be a lot trickier. As some of the models have changed it's not just a case of resizing and moving the front, back, etc. to fit the new skin areas around. There may be areas of the skin where it needs to be stretched/squashed more than other parts of the same panel. You can imagine what this might do to a design or logo in that area. So any auto S2alizer (TM) would probably still need you to manually tweak things afterwards to correct distortions. That could be tricky with just a single layered jpeg, so converting an existing skin file is probably impractical at best. If you had the original in a layered format then a plug-in for that drawing/painting package might be able to crudely convert something and leave the finishing touches to be done manually but I think that's as far as anything is likely to get you and still preserve the quality of the skin. So not impossible, but to create anything that would produce useful results could be a prodigious amount of work, and almost certainly more work than any one person would have to do to convert any S1 skins the hard way. It would be nice though

Hi, I know what you're feeling, but they can be taken as guides so you could make them again for s2 if there are some of those favorites you don't want to let go. Imagine this, I have over 40 skins for GTP and Trans am for n2003, now they're useless for LFS, but I'm trying to take them as "guides" to make them into lfs, hoping to be useful for the community Back them up in a cd as Bunta recommended, you never know when maybe such a tool will be developed either.
