Hi skinnerz!! I've been gathering various fonts over my time skinning, but I was wondering what fonts other skinners use and recommend. I'd especially like to know what fonts you might use for branded products e.g. Dunlop, Bridgestone etc. Anyway, I tend to use this site for free fonts - www.1001freefonts.com. Trouble is, with so many fonts to browse it's difficult to find the one most suitable for the job. Cheers!

Why don't you just get the real thing? Creators almost never use fonts, they draw the letters up i guess. A font will never be original. YOu won't have the same B as it's in the bridgestone logo.

Though I agree with Pipi, there are free font sets out there that contail manufacturers logos like Coca Cola etc. I doubt they can be used for anything other than "complimentary" decals though.

I'd especially like to know what fonts you might use for branded products e.g. Dunlop, Bridgestone etc. im not quite sure what other people do, but i usually download .eps (vector based graphics format) files of these companies logos, places like www.brandsoftheworld.com have huge databases of them, and from there you can edit their logos and use them on your skins, and because they are vector based, they can be resized with little or no loss in clarity. as far as making your own text, all i can suggest is finding a font you like somewhere and using it ;D

I make all of my brand name decals myself using no fonts, but this is very time consuming. In general fonts used for text on your skin will look better if they are bold and blocky types. Large square-shaped fonts match those used most commonly in motor racing world wide. A brand name on a race car should be easy to define by the spectator. Check our Decals section for more resources.

Thanks all for the tips. So far I've just been resizing gif's etc and sharpening, but as you know there's a limit to that before you lose clarity. I'd especially like to know what fonts you might use for branded products e.g. Dunlop, Bridgestone etc. im not quite sure what other people do, but i usually download .eps (vector based graphics format) files of these companies logos, places like www.brandsoftheworld.com have huge databases of them, and from there you can edit their logos and use them on your skins, and because they are vector based, they can be resized with little or no loss in clarity. as far as making your own text, all i can suggest is finding a font you like somewhere and using it ;D I'm not really familiar with eps files - I'll do a little reading up on these. What do you think of raster to vector based conversion tools such as this Vector Eye - www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Graphics_Editors/Vector_Eye_Basic.html

For the relatively unskilled (me ;D), I find www.dafont.com provides more than enough choice when you're going for that particular look you have stuck in your head.
