Now I have my FXR working, but it seems like my computer doesn't want to render it.. ^^ My first render - with some errors - was ready after 5 minutes... now it takes more than two hours, and after this time, only 10% are rendered... Have to figure out whats wrong, until then, nobody can have my scene... <.< Oh, and I dont think that the tires are the problem, as I said, this image was rendered in 9 minutes... You will probably find that nothing is wrong with your PC. Have you added any extra lighting? Or changed any render options? Depending on the copmplexity of the scene and render parameters a render may take a long time. Some larger scenes can take days (or even weeks) but that would n ot be typical of a car on a plain background. If you have more than one PC you should be able to get them both working on those bigger jobs.

Bunta, I agree with what you are saying. I am saving my files, I meant that there are 20 different car models to do if you are painting all of the cars, which I am. The tutorial is great and I am glad I went through it...... just don't want to do it 20 times But I will btw, I think this is a great website and am glad I found it... keep up the good work everybody.

But the Problem is that I haven't changed anything... that's whats wierd... ok, I've added a Light, but I deleted it, so it should be as before, but It seems like a bug in max or something! >< Hmn... but, I'll render it this weekend, I've planned a party here, so I have no time for my pc... perfect.

I'm having some prblems with the lights, indicator, window outlines and the grill. In the second render I added an interior picture from S1 as a bitmap to the interior but it still didn't do the lights. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong, why is it not adding the interior textures?

If you don't mess with the luma server settings, it wont do that. I had the same problem and just left the luma changes from the last part of the tutorial out and it works fine... I even think it looks better. The shadows are less splotchy without using it. Renders faster as well

Ok, here is the UF I am working on... I still need to assign correct colors to the bumpers, headlight housings and smooth out some of the poly's around the fenders and headlights, but it is coming along.

@stereo: luma server isn't the real problem. somebody from lfs.de told me, that there are another few polys underneath those where the problem is. i deleted those, and now it's rendering correctly.

Managed to get the tyres mapped with help from ian, getting used to the interface of max now which is making things go much faster i think.. What i would like to know is what renderer's are you lot using? ..the free brazil renderer in the tutorial only allows a maximum 512x384 res. Anyway, heres my latest ones...

I fixed the problem I was having with the lights. Here's what I did: forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?p=2506326#post2506326alex V. I think its the reflect box, try moving it around so that it doesn't mess up the windows. Also try changing the RGB from 3 to something else a little lower as well, that might help.

I can fully understand that everybody wants the render-ready max-scenes. And even though I think it's much more educative to do everything by yourself (which is not much, actually, considering how easy the cmx-importer makes things), I wouldn't have any problems sharing my max-files. However, I don't have any that were created after the LFS Viewer S2N Alpha came out. As you guys probably know, file format changed from raw to dds on the interiors. That makes setting up a scene a bit more complicated than before. With version D all you had to do was assigning the right materials to the rims and a maximum of two texture corrections (and sorting those smoothing group problems out). So, most ppl here asking for the max files probably have more up to date maxfiles than myself. However, I'm willing to share my max files as soon as I have figured out how to work with the new versions of lfs and the lfs viewer. thunder: The folder with the tga files I was referring to obviously doesn't exist anymore since version S2N. So my tip was a little out of date .

No problem Linsen... I converted the needed files from dds to tga, after I've painted this square black. And I used the other original dds-files for my scene, simply download the dds plugin from www.nvidia.com.. saves a lot of time... My FXR scene's almoast ready... I'll upload it this week.
