We had another project going on at the same time as the Star Wars Wall mural (above). Hes in scouts this year, so this is our first pinewood derby car. He wanted to do a batmobile, I designed it and cut it, he did a buttload of filing and sanding, finding, priting & applying decals. My guess is the looks are probably better than its speed. We'll find out soon enough. EDIT/UPDATE: Results, he took 2nd in his den (age group) and went onto finals where we did piss poor. He did however win 'Most Creative' trophy. I originally got 15-18 secs out of each wheel free-spinning them during setp/build of the car. Then a buddy brought me a bunch of materials and books on pinewood car building. The book said 20 secs was needed, so I started all over again using their hints and tips. Unforunately, the best I got out of any wheel after that was 12 secs!!!! Everything I did to get back to my original speed was futile. But we had a blast anyways, it was awesome to watch these kids go from shy and overwhelmed emotions at the start of the event, to competitive little buggers rooting on their cars by the end of the event.

Ah, those were the only reason I joined Cubs as a wee one. Even then I loved cars. My first cub car was based on a 1967 Lotus 49. ...I was a race car geek, even as a child.
Great work on both the mural and the batmobile. Nice stuff!

Daydreaming much lol? The render looks great, but the the girl seems a bit off (floating) and copypasted onto the scene. I think it's her shadow mainly. Have a closer look at the lightsource and go through those shadows again. I'd adjust the gamma of the bike a little bit darker and desaturate it a bit as well for a more natural look. The background bushes and the other parts that are further away could do well with a slight blur for more depth. But all of this is just me being overly critical. It's great work m8.

So, I'm not completely useless after all. I did this for a college project, spent a little under 20 hours on it. With the exception of the ALMS and IMSA logos, everything you see is 100% scratch-made in Photoshop by me. (Although some of the logos weren't made for this project specifically ) Full Size (11x17 150dpi)Full Size without wordsC&C much appreciated. I'm quite happy with the result. [EDIT] Not sure why the images aren't working... files uploaded twice but still seem to have 'errors.' [EDIT..Again] Just remembered they were all CMYK files. Fixed and re-uploaded.

Awesome. Only problem I can see is the stitching of the bg cloth edges which is too large. (Designwise the number "hidden" in the shadows might not be a good idea.) I can imagine this going 200+ mph at Mulsanne straight Very good.

I made the decision to make the stitching larger on the premise that I was tired and wanted to be finished. hehe As for the number, I know it's a bad spot but I just couldn't bring myself to cover up any of the paintscheme. Numbers on race cars aren't that important, are they? LOL Thanks mate
